What the Linear connection helps with.
Offscript supports creating Linear issues from conversation context through a reviewed action. It can also bring an issue’s status together with relevant captured conversations when you ask about its identifier.
That is useful when a meeting says one thing and the board appears to say another. Look at the sources and resolve the disagreement instead of assuming the newest sentence automatically changes the team’s plan.
Availability: Linear is shown in Settings → Connections when enabled for your account. If the row is absent, check availability with Offscript rather than assuming the connection is already active.
Connect Linear and choose a team.
- Open Settings → Connections and find Linear.
- Choose Connect, then review the workspace and permissions in the authorization flow.
- Return to Offscript and check the connected organization name.
- If you have several available teams, use New issues go to to choose the default team.
- Before confirming a new issue, check its destination and contents.
When only one team is available, the team selector may not be shown. Connection availability and accessible teams depend on your account and authorization.
Turn the discussion into actionable work.
Before creating an issue, check whether it already exists. If it does, refer to the identifier instead of creating a duplicate from the same conversation.
Title: Complete the launch readiness review Context: The proposed launch moved to Friday. The revised proposal needs a confirmed readiness decision. Expected result: Record the review outcome and any remaining blockers so the launch owner can confirm or revise the date.
Confirm the title, description, team and any other proposed fields. Do not invent an assignee or deadline that the conversation did not establish. An issue with clear acceptance criteria is more useful than a pasted fragment of the transcript.
Bring the issue back into the conversation.
Ask about a specific issue identifier when you want its tracker context and relevant captured discussions. For example: “What is the latest context on ENG-42?” The identifier keeps the question tied to the same piece of work.
Check the actual issue and source material before making a new commitment. A status change may describe one part of the work without resolving every dependency. Keep the answer you need separate from the deliverable you owe.
If Linear needs attention.
- Reconnect needed: the existing connection is no longer usable. Choose Reconnect and check the organization after authorization.
- Wrong team: check the default team in Connections and the destination on the proposed action.
- An issue seems missing: verify its identifier and your access in Linear. Do not create a duplicate to work around an unresolved lookup.
- An action failed: check whether the issue was created before retrying. If the outcome is unclear, contact support with the error.
Choose Disconnect in Settings → Connections to stop using the connection. Read Offscript’s privacy policy for handling of connected data.

Does Offscript create an issue automatically from every action item?
No. The described workflow presents proposed work for you to review and confirm. Not every meeting action belongs on a team issue board.
Can I use a commitment tracker without Linear?
Yes. You can keep your commitments in a document or spreadsheet. Linear is useful when the work should live with your team’s issues.
Does a completed issue mean every promise is complete?
Not necessarily. A related proposal, handoff or reply may still be owed. Check the completion condition for each commitment rather than treating related work as the same task.
